SCS SB 1239 & 1091 -- AFFORDABLE PRESCRIPTION DRUGS FOR ALL MISSOURIANS ACT SPONSOR: Gibbons (Sater) COMMITTEE ACTION: Voted "do pass" by the Committee on Health Care Policy by a vote of 10 to 0. This substitute establishes the Affordable Prescription Drugs for All Missourians Act which requires the Missouri Rx Plan within the Department of Social Services to conduct research on a quarterly basis on the retail prices charged by pharmacies for the 50 most frequently prescribed drugs in this state. The plan must make available on a web site by January 1, 2007, and on a toll-free phone number the drug prices from each pharmacy for a 30-day supply of the standard dose. Data collected for each drug will be reported by pharmacy and by metropolitan statistical area or region and updated quarterly. FISCAL NOTE: Estimated Cost on General Revenue Fund of $292,194 in FY 2007, $310,213 in FY 2008, and $311,724 in FY 2009. No impact on Other State Funds in FY 2007, FY 2008, and FY 2009. PROPONENTS: Supporters say that the bill will help health care reform by following a plan in place in Florida that has brought down the prices for prescription drugs. Testifying for the bill was Senator Gibbons. OPPONENTS: There was no opposition voiced to the committee. Dominic Lackey, Legislative AnalystCopyright (c) Missouri House of Representatives
